Centuries old crafts come alive in North Calcutta's narrow winding lanes graced by generations of wealth, neglect, festivals, belonging, graffiti, sculpture, palaces, doorways, and gods.

If this sounds like a maximalist mess you can't hope to capture elsewhere in the world, then you are one hundred percent right! Jump into my walk and discover the history and geography of Kumartuli and adjoining areas through vibrant photo walks.

We will also exchange notes on things as different as Kali's iconic presence in the city's spiritual history to the best way to photograph her in the night.

This walk will debut as a Kali Pujo walk and continue to attend to other gods in other months.
