About
Once a colonial refuge for those who could escape the sweltering plains of Calcutta, Darjeeling evolved—after much British investment—into a cosmopolitan hill town layered with history.
Originally home to the Lepchas (Rongpas), it grew into a shared haven for Nepalis, Tibetans, Bengalis, Anglo-Indians, Marwaris, Parsis, Chinese, Europeans and more.
'Culture Shock' is a three–four hour multicultural walk through Darjeeling’s neighbourhoods, where you stroll unhurriedly, visit family homes and settlements, and engage in warm conversations with locals about how and why they made these hills their own.
Along the way, savour signature delicacies and discover rituals, customs, and stories that celebrate the town’s pluralism—reviving and honouring traditions that define its remarkable international character.
