Bijoya shommeloni - An elaborate lunch, adda, stories & darjeeling first flush

After hosting more than 100 Bengali Home Tables in Gurgaon, we are now bringing the experience to Kolkata.

Think of the lunch as a Bengali omakase—you don’t choose the menu; the season does.

It is an elaborate vegetarian (12 dishes) or non-vegetarian (14 dishes, including fish, mutton & golda chingri) Bengali home lunch, slow-cooked using traditional methods and served course by course on hand beaten kansaware.

This is followed by several kinds of mishti made by us, a Darjeeling tea ceremony and a sit-down storytelling session.

Storytelling theme: Durga Pujo

Not another telling of Durga and Mahishasura.

A journey through mythology, history, religion, ritual, their meaning, Tantric rights, art and popular culture to understand how Durga Pujo became the Durga Pujo we know today — from the earliest ideas of the Devi and the Devi Mahatmya to Bengal’s rituals, murti-making, craftsmanship and culture.
