A Journey into the Prehistoric Art of Hadoti
Step beyond the forts and palaces of Bundi and discover a much older story of the region.
Join Hadoti Heritage Walks on a journey to the prehistoric rock shelters of Bundi, where ancient communities left behind paintings created with natural mineral pigments.
Hunting scenes, weapons and animals such as deer, bison and tigers offer a glimpse into the lives and imagination of people who lived here thousands of years ago.
First brought to wider attention in the late 1990s by local explorer Om Prakash Sharma (Kukki Sr.), more than 100 rock-art sites have been documented across the region, stretching from Bijolia to Banki and Gardhda.
Around 30–35 km from Bundi, these remote sites reveal a fascinating and lesser-known archaeological landscape of Hadoti.
Not just a journey to see ancient paintings — but a journey into one of the oldest stories of human life in this landscape.
