About
Curtain Call is an immersive walk through the theatrical heart of North Kolkata, tracing the evolution of Bengal’s theatre culture from traditional Jatra to the grand theatre houses and cinemas that transformed the city’s cultural landscape.
Beginning at Binodini Theatre (formerly Star Theatre), the walk takes participants through the historic theatre landscape of Hatibagan, bringing to life the people, performances, stories and struggles that unfolded both under the spotlight and behind the curtain.
This is not simply a walk around old theatres. It is an invitation to step into their histories, encounter the lives that shaped Bengal’s stage, and experience the world of theatre through the spaces and archival traces it has left behind.
